Sponsorship FAQ

What is a PTA?
PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association. PTA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit association that prides itself on being a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public education.

What does the PTA do?
Our purpose is to enhance students’ education by sponsoring cultural arts programs, making improvements to our school classrooms and grounds, hosting family events and fostering communication between faculty and parents. We do this through fundraising and volunteering.

What can I do to help enhance my student’s education?
A key way to show support and involvement is by becoming a PTA member. Your membership helps support valuable enrichment programs and equipment that Heritage Elementary otherwise could not afford. Through PTA membership you can participate in your child’s education by volunteering for a committee, attending meetings, voting on important PTA decisions, and providing ideas and feedback. Whatever level of involvement you choose, your time and efforts shows your child that you care about their education.

Why is membership important?
The more members we have, the more support the children in your school and community will receive.

What are the benefits of joining?
The PTA benefits parents as well as students/staff/school. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. Joining the PTA also means you get a “VOICE and a VOTE” in helping shape the education of your child at Heritage Elementary. Every dollar we spend is debated and voted on by the membership at our meetings.
Individuals can take advantage of a host of benefits from PTA membership including : monthly raffle for members / discounts-offers from member benefit providers, leadership training, e-newsletters and much more.

Who can join?
The HES PTA is an inclusive organization that is open to all adults who care about children and schools. It is made up of parents, guardians, family, friends, teachers and members/business owners of the community.

How do I join?
Joining is simple! Just complete the membership form and pay $10.00 per parent (or family member)). Return the completed form, along with membership dues to your child’s teacher.

What do my dues pay for?
Our members pay dues that include a small portion for the state and national offices. In return, local PTAs and members receive access to many valuable resources, information, grants, support and training programs.

How can I volunteer?
We have many opportunities for parents to volunteer and make a difference at the school. There are ways to help even if you work full time or have younger children in your care. If you would like to volunteer, please fill out the volunteer form below with your preferences. Be sure to also check out our Volunteer Info Tab(s) for more information.

How can I keep updated on PTA/HES information, activities and events?
We use a variety of ways to keep you informed – The school’s website, Monthly Newsletter (Heritage Herald), PTA Facebook Page, Monthly PTA Meetings and the HES PTA website.

What if I have more questions?
The HES PTA is made up of friendly and knowledge people who are happy to help answer your questions. Fill out the Contact Us form and someone will reply to you as soon as possible or you can contact a PTA Leadership Team member directly
